Title Sequence vs Trailer

For this task I chose to compare the trailer and title sequence of the film I,Robot. In the trailer of this action packed film, it shows short clips of different parts of each scenes. Overall the trailer has a fast pace and is very hectic, leaving scenes on a cliff hanger which intrigues the viewer, encouraging them to watch the film and find out what happens.  A trailer gives a brief overview of the film, and doesn't give away too much detail about the film itself.  If the film was given away in the trailer viewers would not have a reason to go and see the film, as they would already know what happens from the trailer.

Unlike this the opening sequence of the film starts calmly, but then quickens as it shows flashbacks of what happened to the main character to make him not like robots.  After the chaos of the first few shots, it calms down completely as the character awakens, leaving the audience not knowing whether what has just happened was reality, or just a dream.  The opening sequence of a film introduces the audience to the film, setting the scene, and informing the audience of who the directer, costume designer etc. are and stating the name of the film.

Brief

We were given the brief of creating an opening sequence to a new fiction film in groups of 3 or 4. We have to include in the sequence titles, different shot types, a variety of camera angles, camera movements and lighting.  The clip has to be no longer then 2 minutes and any music we include has to be copyright free.
